Cloudless Share — direct file sharing without uploading your data to the cloud

Cloudless Share is a privacy-first Android app for sending photos, videos, music, documents, apps, contacts, and full folder contents directly from one device to another. Transfers are established with peer-to-peer WebRTC connections, so your files move device-to-device instead of being uploaded to cloud storage first.

Quick navigation

This page explains what Cloudless Share is for, how sending works end-to-end, what each tab does, how photos are categorized by people, and how privacy is protected while transfers happen.

What Cloudless Share optimises for

  • Fast local transfer

Move files directly between nearby or connected devices without waiting for a cloud upload and download cycle.

  • Privacy by default

Files stay on your device until you intentionally share them, and face grouping works locally on-device.

  • Practical organization

Find content quickly through Recent, Photos, Audio, Apps, Contacts, Files, and People instead of hunting manually through storage.

Overview

Cloudless Share is designed for users who want the convenience of modern file sharing without the tradeoff of handing their content to a cloud provider first. Instead of storing your files on a remote server, the app uses a lightweight signaling step to connect two devices and then transfers the data directly over a peer-to-peer channel.

What that means in practice: your photos, videos, documents, contacts, APKs, and other files are selected locally, sent directly, and never staged in online storage managed by Prayo.

Who it is for

Cloudless Share is built for everyday sharing, especially when you want speed, privacy, and direct control over what leaves your device.

How sharing works

Cloudless Share keeps the sending flow simple: choose content, connect the other device, and transfer directly.

1) Pick what you want to send

Start from the tab that matches your content: Recent for newly added media, Photos for gallery browsing, Audio and Apps for music or APKs, Contacts for vCards, Files for deep storage navigation, or People for face-grouped photo collections.

2) Build a send list

Select one item, many items, or a mixed set. Cloudless Share keeps selection state visible so you can review your batch before sending.

3) Connect sender and receiver

The app uses session setup and notifications to help both devices discover each other. That setup step coordinates the transfer, but the file contents are not uploaded to a Prayo server.

4) Transfer peer-to-peer

Once the WebRTC connection is established, the selected files move directly between devices. This reduces unnecessary duplication and avoids a cloud storage hop.

5) Resume if needed

If a transfer is interrupted, Cloudless Share is designed to support resumable sending so you do not always need to start large batches from scratch.

What you can share

Cloudless Share is intentionally broad. It is not only for gallery photos.

Media and personal files

  • Photos and videos from your gallery
  • Audio tracks, recordings, and downloads
  • Documents, PDFs, ZIP files, and other file formats
  • Large files that are inconvenient to send through messaging apps

Useful Android-specific items

  • Installed APKs for direct app sharing
  • Contacts exported as vCards
  • Full folders from internal storage or SD card paths
  • Person-based photo groups created from on-device face analysis

Main tabs

The app separates common content types so you can get to the right files faster.

Recent

Recent brings together newly added or recently available content so you can quickly send what you just captured, downloaded, or received without drilling into multiple folders.

Photos & Videos

Browse visual media with thumbnails, gallery-style selection, and a layout optimized for quickly building a batch of pictures or clips to send.

Audio & Apps

Share songs, recordings, and installed APKs directly. This is useful for moving local audio collections or sharing app installers between your own devices.

Contacts

Choose contact cards and send them as shareable contact information instead of manually retyping phone numbers or exporting one by one.

Files

Use a proper file browser for internal storage and removable storage. This tab is for users who want direct folder-level control, not just media library views.

People

Find photos grouped by person, then send a whole set of someone’s photos in one action. This is especially useful for family events, school functions, and travel albums.

How categorization by people works

The People tab is one of Cloudless Share’s most practical features because it turns a large photo library into person-based collections.

Face detection runs on-device

Cloudless Share analyses photos locally on your phone to detect and cluster similar faces. It does not upload your photo library to a server for recognition.

Photos are grouped into people clusters

Instead of browsing one image at a time, you get grouped collections that represent the same person across multiple photos. This makes it easier to pull together all photos of one child, family member, or friend.

Selection becomes much faster

If you want to send all pictures of one person from an event, you can open that person’s cluster and select the batch directly rather than searching the gallery manually.

Your face data stays local

Face grouping metadata is stored on-device and used only to improve your own browsing and selection experience. It is not turned into a cloud identity profile.

Privacy and security

Cloudless Share is built around the idea that convenience should not require surrendering your content to remote storage.

What stays local

  • Your selected files until you decide to transfer them
  • Face grouping and photo categorization data
  • File browsing activity and local storage navigation
  • Most of the logic that determines what is shown in each sharing tab

What the network step is used for

  • Helping two devices discover and connect to each other
  • Coordinating transfer setup and session state
  • Supporting notifications for incoming transfer requests
  • Not for storing your file contents in cloud storage

Short version: Cloudless Share may use lightweight online coordination to create the transfer session, but the actual file payload is intended to move directly between the sender and receiver.

FAQ

Do I need an account?

No. Cloudless Share is designed to work without forcing account creation before you can send files.

Does it work only for photos?

No. It supports photos, videos, audio, APKs, contacts, documents, and general file browsing through storage folders.

Why is the People tab useful?

It helps when your goal is “send all photos of this person,” which is a much more natural task than remembering exact folders or dates.

Are my files uploaded to Prayo servers?

No. The app is built around direct transfer. Session coordination may happen online, but the file contents themselves are not meant to be stored in Prayo-managed cloud storage.
